Director's Welcome The honorable Mayor Clarence Ray Nagin has Proclaimed July 6 - 12 as the Louisiana Purchase Historic Dance Week. As director/administrator I am pleased to announce a most fabulous week celebrating the 200th. Anniversary of the signing of the Louisiana Purchase document. I have tirelessly endeavored to create an experience not soon to be forgotten, once in a lifetime. The French Quarter, Vieux Carre', the old city, will be the perfect backdrop for our "Vintage Feast". Our ballrooms are large, historic and "perfectly period". Our Dance Masters, Sylvie & Bruno Gourier, Yvonne Vart, Joan Walton and Richard Powers will bring to the week their expertise from Empire to Ragtime. Tulane University, Newcomb Dance has graciously hosted the Dance Week with facilities and dormitories that will make our stay most hospitable. New Orleanians take their air-conditioning seriously, we are "Air Conditioned for Your Comfort". Please come and revel in all that I have prepared for you!
